BEng in Computer Engineering
What is Computer Engineering?
The Computer Engineering programme prepares students for the multidisciplinary field of computer engineering, covering areas in software design, electronic system design, as well as hardware-software integration. It is jointly managed by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the Department of Computer Science. The two departments bring together rich resources, with many laboratories, substantial teaching and research facilities, and expertise in a diverse array of areas. Our students can enjoy the widest choice of courses, and have the chance to choose their specialization as they discover their real interest after joining the programme.

ProgrammeThe 4-year Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering (CivE) provides students with the academic qualification towards the professional status of a Civil Engineer. Students also have the option to take various Minor programmes from within or outside of the Faculty of Engineering. In the CivE programme, students will learn and acquire the required knowledge in the following areas, in addition to various common core and language courses: Background mathematics and applied science courses including structural mechanics, fluid mechanics, material science and environmental studies Structural engineering courses, e.g., analysis and design of concrete and steel structures Geotechnical engineering courses, e.g., engineering geology, solid mechanics, foundation design Hydraulic and hydrology courses, e.g., water cycle, flows in ducts and channels Environmental engineering courses, e.g., wastewater treatment, solid waste management Construction management courses Transportation engineering courses Discipline group projects, Individual Final Year Projects and Capstone Design Projects

Career ProspectsOur graduates have been contributing to the design, construction and safe-keeping of the impressive infrastructure in Hong Kong as well as in other places of the world. Most of our graduates are employed by works departments in the Hong Kong Government, engineering consultant firms and construction companies. They work on all types of infrastructure development projects; such as those related to highways projects, transportation-related projects, building projects, water supply projects, drainage and flood prevention projects, environmental engineering and pollution control projects.
