Overview of HKU Engineering Programmes

The  Faculty of Engineering offers comprehensive undergraduate engineering programmes for high caliber students, so that they can be equipped with professional knowledge and technical skills in engineering, to provide solutions to engineering problems that will change the world.

Flexible Programme Structure

The Bachelor of Engineering [JS6963], Bachelor of Engineering in Engineering Science [JS6951],
Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering [JS6925] and Bachelor of Arts and Sciences
in Financial Technology [JS6248], and Bachelor of Engineering in Data Science and Engineering
[JS6262] are four-year broad-based, comprehensive and flexible engineering programmes while
the Global Engineering and Business Programme (GEBP) [JS6937] is a five-year double degree
programme which leads to a Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical
Engineering and Bachelor of Business Administration Double Degree.

Comprehensive Engineering Programmes

For applicants intending to enter the University in September 2025, there are a few major changes in the mechanisms of admissions as well as the programmes offered:

(I) Faculty-Based Initiatives

(1) JS6303 Bachelor of Engineering (Elite) Programme (NEW!)
(2) JS6377 Bachelor of Engineering + MSc Artificial Intelligence in Engineering (NEW!)
(3) JS6937 Global Engineering and Business Programme

(II) Department-Based Programmes

Students will be admitted to the Departments directly, without any further selection mechanism once they enter the University. More precisely, students will be admitted to the individual Department under these JUPAS codes:

(1) JS6353 – Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering
(2) JS6987 – Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Electronic Engineering
(3) JS6315 – Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering and Logistics Management
(4) JS6339 – Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Each programme page contains information for JUPAS (Joint University Programmes Admission System) applicants. ‘Level’ refers to the level of attainment at the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE) Examinations. For local non-JUPAS, Mainland and International applicants, please consult the University Admissions Office website for further information on the minimum academic credentials necessary for admission.
